Melody Laney, Recognized By Influential Women, Turns 25 Years Of Experience Into A Career Rooted In Growth And Purpose

PHENIX CITY, AL, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Enrollment Consultant Draws on Business Operations, Customer Experience, Training, and Continuous Learning to Help Others Move Forward

Phenix City, Alabama – Melody Laney is a seasoned business professional whose 25-year career has been shaped by customer service, operations, training, business process improvement, and a consistent commitment to personal and professional growth. Based in Phenix City, Alabama, Melody currently works as an Enrollment Consultant with KaPar Innovative Services while also serving as an Enrollment Consultant at Aflac

Her professional journey reflects the value of remaining open to change and recognizing that growth does not always happen through a perfectly planned path. Over the years, Melody has developed a broad range of skills through positions that have allowed her to understand both the customer experience and the internal processes that support successful organizations. Her career has included roles at Aflac as a Customer Service Specialist, Claims Specialist, Consumer Markets Lead Qualifier, and Training Specialist, with each position contributing another layer to her understanding of client engagement, employee development, communication, and operational strategy.

For Melody, experience has been about more than simply accumulating years in the workforce. It has been about learning from each opportunity, remaining coachable, and being willing to recognize where there is room to improve. One of the most important lessons she received came during her time in a call center. At the time, Melody was performing exceptionally well. Her quality score was 100, her metrics exceeded expectations, and she felt that she was doing everything being asked of her.

During a coaching session, however, her supervisor reviewed her numbers and told her, “You can do better.”

Melody initially wondered what more could possibly be expected. Her quality score was already 100, and her other numbers were above the required standards. Her supervisor then offered a simple explanation: “There’s always room for improvement.”

Although Melody initially made a joke of the moment, consistent with her personality, she later reflected on the message and recognized that she had been very tunnel-visioned at the time. She would come into work, take her calls, leave, and not necessarily engage with the team around her. The experience helped her understand that professional success is not only about individual performance metrics. Being coachable, participating as part of a team, and remaining receptive to development are equally important.

Today, Melody considers remaining coachable and continually looking for opportunities to grow among the most valuable pieces of career advice she has received.

Her commitment to learning is also reflected in her education. Melody earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management from Strayer University, graduating with high honors while participating in academic honor societies and peer mentorship. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology and Design through the University of North Alabama Online, expanding her knowledge of learning systems and instructional design.

That continued education complements her professional background in training and business processes, giving her another avenue through which to understand how people, technology, and organizational systems can work together.

Melody attributes her success to a combination of herself, her children, her husband, and her inner circle. Her children inspire her to go as far as she possibly can and to be a living example for them. At the same time, she recognizes the importance of having people around her who can offer encouragement during moments of self-doubt.

Those people serve as true cheerleaders, reminding her of how much she has to offer and encouraging her to keep going. Yet Melody believes there is another important part of the equation: giving oneself credit for actually doing the work.

She acknowledges that while many people have supported and encouraged her, she is ultimately the person who has had to take action while afraid, move forward when she was not completely ready, and continue showing up. For Melody, that distinction matters. She believes people should recognize their own contribution to their success rather than attributing everything to the support they receive from others.

Her perspective is particularly meaningful in the advice she offers young women entering the workforce. Melody encourages women to take themselves seriously and remain mindful of the sacrifices they make. While sacrifices can sometimes be necessary, she believes they can become a crutch when women continue postponing their own aspirations indefinitely.

As a mother of a daughter and a son, Melody has gained an especially clear perspective on how quickly children grow and develop lives of their own. They eventually establish their own social circles, interests, and experiences, creating a new chapter for their parents as well. She believes mothers can find themselves unprepared for that transition if they have spent years putting everything into their children while consistently placing their own dreams on the back burner.

For Melody, the answer is not to abandon responsibilities, but to weave dreams into them. She wants women to understand that they do not necessarily have to wait until their children leave home to return to school, start a business, or pursue something meaningful to them. Instead, she encourages women to find ways to incorporate their aspirations into the lives they are already living.

That philosophy connects closely with her own professional and entrepreneurial development. Through her small business, Melody helps small businesses improve their customer experience. One of the challenges she encounters is communicating the value of that service without making a business owner feel criticized. She recognizes that simply approaching someone and telling them their customer experience is not where it needs to be could be received negatively.

As a result, she is focused on building value through her brand, demonstrating what she does, and helping clients understand the process. Her experience has shown her that while some clients understand their overall journey, they may not always recognize where their own responsibilities fit within that process.

Melody is therefore concentrating on developing her platform in a way that keeps business owners fully engaged. Her role is to provide tools, guidance, and support, while ensuring that the business owner understands that improving the customer experience remains their responsibility as well.

Financial considerations are another important part of running a small business. Melody understands that everything has a cost and that small businesses may not always have customer-experience services built into their budgets. She continues to conduct market research to understand costs and ensure that her offers remain competitive without undervaluing her own time and expertise.

One area she is exploring is the development of more self-paced opportunities. These offerings can provide business owners with useful resources without requiring the same level of hands-on involvement from Melody, allowing her to stay connected with clients while managing the demands on her time. She sees this as an important opportunity for KPAR as she continues developing her business.

At the heart of all of Melody’s professional pursuits are values that extend into her personal life. She considers herself a woman of her word. If she says she is going to do something, she intends to do it. Honesty with herself has also become increasingly important as she has learned to accept who she is, understand how she operates, and show up for herself.

That self-awareness has not always come easily. Melody has experienced moments when she felt she was working too hard, going above and beyond, and needed to scale back. Yet she discovered that pulling back simply because of what might be happening around her could create its own internal conflict. When she was not operating or showing up to the fullest of her capacity, she did not necessarily feel more balanced.

Today, Melody places significant value on being truthful to herself and being the woman she says she is. Her philosophy reflects the broader theme of her career: growth requires movement.

Her own words capture that philosophy: “I hope my children notice that mama doesn’t have it all together; sometimes you have to build the plane while flying. You don’t reach new heights without movement!”

With 25 years of professional experience, an ongoing commitment to education, a background spanning customer service and business operations, and a growing focus on customer experience and instructional technology, Melody continues to evolve. Her journey demonstrates that professional development can happen through formal education, workplace lessons, entrepreneurship, family responsibilities, and the willingness to keep moving forward even when the path is still taking shape.
